Edmonton Bounce Houses 101: Which Inflatable is Best For Your Event?

Hey Edmonton! I’m Yanik Richard, owner of the Big Bounce Theory! Your go-to spot for bounce-castle obstacle courses and inflatables that turn any event into a party. If you’re planning a large event, thinking 200 plus guests, this video is for you. Let’s talk about how to choose the right inflatables so everyone has a blast, whether you’re an event planner, school organizer, church and nonprofits, a corporate picnic—whether you’re planning a school funday, a church fundraiser, or a huge corporate picnic. Getting the right mix of inflatables can make or break the fun. Let’s talk about a few points here to be able to determine what fits best for your event. Inflatables Enhance All Events In general, you want to look at the age of your kids that’s going to be at the event. You want to look at the group size, energy levels, and accessibility needs. It’s not one size fits-all; a toddler zone and a teen-ready obstacle course hit very different notes. For 50 to 100 guests, we usually recommend roughly two units: a bounce house and a a small to medium obstacle course, with the optional water slide or games such as basketball hoop, big baller, hockey ball, and such. For 100 to 200 plus guests at your event, we have a multi-station layout. First, you want to start with a 100-foot obstacle course, and then you want to have a couple of combos—those ones with the slide and the big bouncing area in it. This is most recommended, and we also want to have a toddler play area, so usually it’ll be a smaller combo that will be used for the younger kids so that the bigger kids aren’t mixed with them and create chaos. More Than Just Bouncy Houses For some events, you may also want to add the foam party, dunk tank, or even the mobile ninja warrior. Think of it like zones; each area keeps a different age group entertained, and when you’ve got 200 people, light management matters too. When booking those large events like this, you need to make sure that you have the proper amount of power. It’s crucial to a successful event, ensuring that you have either enough generators or enough power nearby the units so that we can inflate them without any breaker jumping. Most of the time when it’s in the park, we will require generators. We do provide them, but it is not included in all our prices that you see on the website, so if you were ever to need some power, you must let us know so we can add this to your quote. When booking large events, we need to make sure that you have enough space to set up all those units. Although on a website it may look like a unit is 40 ft long, in fact we do require roughly 50 ft of space to set it up in order for people to walk around and make sure that it’s safe for everyone. Great for Indoor As Well as Outdoor Are you setting up indoor or outdoor? This is very crucial for us as well because, the way we stake our inflatables down—whether with sandbags or stakes—we need to ensure we have the proper equipment on-site when we arrive to set up everything. Power source, let’s talk about power. Do you have enough power at your event in order for us to inflate all of our units? For example, a large obstacle course requires three blurs, so that means we need three plugins of 15 amp each. Do you have enough power for this? That’s without including the bounce castle. If you get two of them, you need two more blowers, so another 15 amp. It’s very crucial for you to know what kind of power you have on-site in order for us to make your event a very high success. We Help You Every Step Of The Way We’ll help you map it out. Every rental comes with clear size requirements and setup instruction. How to choose a reliable rental company: are they insured? You want to make sure that the company you’re using has liability insurance, so if one of your guests gets injured, or even one of their employees gets injured at your house or at at your event, you want to make sure you are fully covered. Do you know if the company that you use clean and sanitize all of their units after rentals? Are they clean? Are they full of grass? Are they dirty? This is very important for you to choose the right company. It would be terrible if you booked a company and it arrived at your event and it was full of grass, full of stains, and it smell like crap. Delivery, Set Up and Pick Up of Our Equipment When booking a bounce house or two, or multiple of them, you want to make sure that they deliver the equipment, and they also set up the equipment. You don’t want to be left out where they just deliver and do not set up on-site. This is very important for you to make it clear with the company that you’re booking. At the Big Bounce Theory, all of our deliveries include delivery, setup, takedown, and pickup. We take care of everything for you; all you have to do is have fun. Last but not least, you want to make sure that the company has got lots of experience in the event industry. How many years of experience do they have in the event industry? How many units have they set up in their lifetime? It’s important; the more they set up, the more they know about what they need. Don’t Know What To Get? Here’s Our Recommendations Here’s what we usually recommend for big group of people. For school funday, two combos and an obstacle course is usually most recommended. For community events, usually we want to have a medium to large size obstacle course, some games such as basketball hoop, soccer and dart, or even golf. A corporate barbecue, usually you’ll see a medium to large size obstacle course between 60 ft up to 120 ft. You may also see some portable mini golf and games. Contact The Big Bouncy Theory Today!
